To identify the binding material, the KBr embedded sample proved for being simpler compared to the polyester resin. This was due in part to the overwhelming IR absorbance of gypsum in exactly the same spectral range (1700-1600 cm-1) for a characteristic extend of the binding along with some contaminant absorption because of the polyester embedding
